Emily Sullivan is an avid performer and teacher throughout the greater Michiana area. Emily completed her Masters at Indiana University South Bend in 2022.
Since 2013, Emily has been a member of Musical Arts Indiana's Vesper Chorale, with whom she performed as a soprano soloist for Brahms Requiem and Handel's Messiah, and now serves as the soprano section leader, as well as on the MAI board. She has performed with the South Bend Lyric Opera (Cavalleria Rusticana, La Traviata, and Don Giovanni) Opera Notre Dame (Belinda in Dido & Aeneas), IU South Bend Opera at the Raclin (Mother in Amahl & the Night Visitors, Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro) and Bethel University’s Operatic Irregulars (Collette in Le Devin du Village, Pernille in Captain Lovelock).
In January of 2023, Emily began a year of exciting new musical experiences with the world premiere of The Gift with SBLO in the role of Mother. In March, she appeared in the world premiere of the musical Assembly, originating the character Shannon, a role which was written for her. She was named the winner of the IU South Bend Concerto Competition, performing with the IUSB Philharmonic, and attended Classic Lyric Arts in the Berkshires over the summer to study Mozart opera. Furthermore, Emily has been expanding her horizons by gaining proficiency in Irish Sean-nós (“in the old style”) singing.
Emily is also passionate about passing down her love for music to the next generation. She holds an adjunct position as faculty of voice at IUSB, while also maintaining a private voice studio in the area, and teaching primary and elementary school music at Cornerstone Christian Montessori School. Additionally, she is a classically trained dancer, and has taught students aged 3-18 in dance over the years.
She and her husband, John-David, live in Granger, IN.
