Andrea Meluch is originally from Northeast Ohio. She received her BA from Cleveland State University and then went on to complete her graduate work in communication at The University of Akron and Kent State University. Before coming to IU South Bend, Meluch taught at The University of Akron and Kent State University. She also worked in public relations for a national non-profit organization and a large agricultural cooperative. Meluch was recognized with a University Fellowship in 2016 from Kent State University and has received top paper awards from the National Communication Association’s Peace and Conflict Division and the Ohio Communication Association. Meluch’s scholarly interests lay at the intersections of health and organizational communication. Specifically, she is interested in how patients experience healthcare organizations and the ways in which healthcare organizations can better facilitate patient support. She has published articles in Communication Education, Journal of Communication in Healthcare, Ohio Communication Journal, Southern Communication Journal, and The Communication Review. She has also published several book chapters and encyclopedia entries.
